Dr. Shreya Nupur

Dr. Shreya Nupur is an Assistant Professor in the Global Economics and Finance Cluster at University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES); She has cultivated expertise in the interaction of Household economy, labour market decisions and well-being, with a primary focus on emerging economies. Holding a Ph.D in Economics from Indian institute of Technology Patna, her academic journey commenced with B.A [H] in Economics from University of Delhi and M.A from Banaras Hindu University. Dr. Shreya’s academic pursuits reflect in her research publications in leading national and international journals. 

Prior to joining UPES, Dr. Shreya held a research position in Tata Chair unit at the Institute of Economic Growth, New Delhi, and acted as a visiting faculty to Delhi Technological University (Formerly DCE). She also held teaching assistant position at Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IITP).

Dr. Shreya’s teaching philosophy is focused on creating an engaging and transformative learning experience for her students. She believes that education goes beyond the acquisition of knowledge; it is about nurturing critical thinking, fostering a passion for lifelong learning, and supporting personal growth. Her teaching approach is dynamic and interactive, incorporating case studies, business quizzes, presentations, live projects, videos, and discussions to ensure an immersive and stimulating learning environment. Dr. Shreya finds teaching to be deeply rewarding and views herself as a lifelong learner, encouraging her students to adopt the same mindset of continuous growth and curiosity. 

Dr. Shreya’s passion for education materializes in her role as an educator. She imparts knowledge through courses encompassing Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Managerial Economics, Business Economics, Panel data econometrics and Development Economics at undergraduate and postgraduate level. 

Dr. Shreya Qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) of University Grants Commission, 2018 for lectureship eligibility in India. She also awarded Institute Fellowship (for the year 2019-2024) by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Patna. 

Dr. Shreya is actively involved in the academic community, with significant contributions to research, collaboration, and mentorship. She has presented her work at prestigious institutions such as the London School of Economics (LSE), International British Business School and Ming Ai Institute, London, Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) and involved in organizing workshops and conferences, where she actively contributes to academic discourse. She is also a member of the Indian Society for Labour Economics and the Association for Mentoring and Inclusion in Economics, staying engaged with the latest advancements in economics. Dr. Shreya has authored in reputed journals such as Economic and Political Weekly (EPW), Economic Papers, Review of Economic Analysis and Indian Journal of Labour Economics. Additionally, she serves as a reviewer for leading journals including Economic and political weekly, International journal of Social Economics, Journal of public affairs, Economic Papers, providing critical insights into cutting-edge research.
