Deepak Gautam

Deepak Gautam is an Assistant Professor at the School of Business, UPES Dehradun, specializing in Operations and Supply Chain Management. With extensive experience in teaching, research, and industry collaboration, he focuses on sustainability, reverse logistics, and supply chain optimization. His research primarily explores circular economy frameworks and sustainable supply chain solutions, with a particular emphasis on EV batteries. Deepak has published in high-impact journals and actively engages in multidisciplinary research projects.  

He has served as an Assistant Professor at IILM University, Greater Noida, where he led the Operations Club and coordinated certification courses. He played a key role in organizing industry interactions and fostering entrepreneurial skills through events on lean startup and incubation. Additionally, he led a NICDC-funded research initiative focused on optimizing locations for Industrial Corridor Projects. He also collaborated with Mitsui India on sustainable mobility solutions, contributing to electric vehicle supply chain optimization and circular economy strategies. 

His research interests include Operations Research, Mathematical Modelling, Public Policy, Energy Policy, Sustainable Supply Chain, Circular Economy, Decision Support Systems, and Supply Chain Network Design. He focuses on sustainable solutions for reverse logistics and circular economy models, particularly for electric vehicle batteries.  

He emphasizes experiential learning, encouraging students to engage in hands-on projects, case studies, and industry interactions. His teaching philosophy revolves around nurturing critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and ethical decision-making, preparing students to excel in the dynamic field of operations and supply chain management. 

Deepak has taught a variety of courses, including Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Project Management, Technology Management, and Quality Management. He also develops and delivers certification courses to boost students' professional qualifications. 

Deepak has received prestigious awards and grants, including the RSTA Foreign Travel Grant to present at the 32nd European Conference on Operational Research in Espoo, Finland. He is also a recipient of the MHRD Scholarship, Mitsui Scholarship, and CERCA IIT Delhi Scholarship. Additionally, he has been recognized for academic excellence with high scores in GATE 2016 and 2017. His contributions to research and education have been widely acknowledged. 

Deepak is an active researcher with publications in high-impact journals such as Business Strategy and the Environment, Journal of Cleaner Production, and Sustainable Development. His work focuses on reverse logistics, circular economy frameworks, and sustainable supply chain strategies, particularly for electric vehicle batteries. He has presented his research at international conferences, including EURO 22 in Finland and IEOM Annual Conference. Deepak is also involved in multidisciplinary research projects, including initiatives funded by NICDC and Mitsui India.
