
Manoj Singh Rana is an academician of literary studies and communication. He has been formally trained in both literature and media communication from institutes of repute. He has submitted his doctoral thesis at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar, Gujarat. In his thesis, he analysed the state of being tethered in the works of Near Future Science Fiction by proposing a blended reading. In addition, Manoj is an alumnus of the prestigious Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Delhi from where he holds a PG Diploma in Radio and TV Journalism. He has also been empanelled as a casual newsreader with Akashwani (formerly All India Radio), Delhi. He also has vast experience in emceeing events, including the screening of the 59th National Film Awards at Sirifort Auditorium (Delhi), the visit of the Honourable Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Honourable Governor of Gujarat Acharya Devvrat, and the Inter IIT Sports Meet 2023 at IIT Gandhinagar to name a few.
During his doctoral tenure at IIT Gandhinagar, Manoj was a Graduate Teaching Fellow for “Introduction to Writing” for B. Tech. students. Before enrolling for the doctoral programme at IIT Gandhinagar, he was associated with the School of Business at UPES for approximately 2 years. He has also been a Guest Faculty of English at Government Degree College, Purola (Uttarkashi). Manoj has a diverse range of experience having worked with Accenture Consulting as an Analyst for 2.5 years. His experience with Akashwani spans 14 years that entails reading prime time bulletins, lending voice for announcements of programmes, and anchoring news magazine programme “Parikrama”.

In addition, he also teaches “Business Ethics and CSR” and delves into the ethical dilemmas that befuddle business professionals. The premise of the discussion in the class is that ethical businesses contribute positively to society and the environment.
Manoj was awarded the Travel Grant Scheme 2024-25 from the Indian Council of Social Science Research, Delhi for attending Digital Humanities Congress 2024, Sheffield, UK. He also received Financial Assistance for International Conferences from IIT Gandhinagar twice for attending the Keystone Digital Humanities Conference 2024, PA, US and Digital Humanities Congress 2024, Sheffield, UK. In addition, Manoj cleared the UGC NET for Assistant Professor in English Literature in 2014. He was also the recipient of the “Certificate of Merit” for being the top 0.1% scorers in English (Core) in 12th grade.
Manoj has presented his research work at many national and international conferences and workshops. His research was widely appreciated at the Keystone DH Conference 2024 in Erie, Pennsylvania, US and the DH Congress 2024 organised by the Digital Humanities Institute of the University of Sheffield, UK. He has published book reviews and journal articles in esteemed journals such as Information Visualisation by Sage.
